Railway Export of Belarusian Goods (for 11 months of 2024). Part 3: Poland

Overview

We continue to publish data on railway export shipments of Belarusian goods for 2024.

In Part One, we presented information on the export volumes of main export goods destined for Russia and, via its ports, to third countries for the first 9 months of 2024. Part Two published data on the export of Belarusian goods to Lithuania and Latvia, as well as exports through their seaports to third countries for the same period.

Today, we present data on the export of Belarusian goods by railway transport to Poland for the 11 months of 2024.

The data provided below is operational and may differ slightly from actual figures*. However, it is sufficiently accurate for analysis and a general understanding of the current situation regarding export railway transport from Belarus.

* The data presented in this publication is based on preliminary (operational) information regarding the export volumes of products and goods (hereinafter — goods) from Belarusian enterprises for the 11 months of 2024, transported by railway in the Belarus → Poland direction. Final data may differ slightly within an error margin of approximately ±3-6%.
** All cargo names in this material are provided in accordance with the Unified Tariff and Statistical Nomenclature of Goods (ETSNG).
***For convenience, the data in this material is sorted by station in descending order of total delivered cargo weight.

The total volume of railway export shipments from Belarus to Poland for the 11 months of 2024 amounted to 814,847 tonnes. For the transportation of this volume, 13,504 railcars and 1,543 large-capacity containers were utilized.

Data on the volumes of Belarusian goods exported by railway transport to Poland during this period demonstrate a wide range of exported products — 80 different cargo items according to the Unified Tariff and Statistical Nomenclature of Goods (ETSNG) classifier. The main cargo categories are represented by the following names:

1. Largest categories:
   • Natural stone aggregate, unspecified – 2,212 railcars, 152,628 tonnes;
   • Carbamide (synthetic urea) – 1,961 railcars, 108,300 tonnes;
   • Crushed granite – 734 railcars, 50,646 tonnes;
   • Liquefied hydrocarbon gases – 1,442 railcars, 50,470 tonnes.
2. Medium volumes:
   • Husks – 808 railcars, 44,410 tonnes;
   • Granite screenings – 643 railcars, 44,367 tonnes;
   • Liquid nitrogen fertilizers – 697 railcars, 40,155 tonnes;
   • Technical salt – 480 railcars, 33,119 tonnes;
   • Chemical and mineral fertilizers – 552 railcars, 33,110 tonnes.
3. Other significant goods:
   • Technical and construction glass – 510 railcars, 30,600 tonnes;
   • Large-capacity containers – 1,543 containers, 27,662 tonnes;
   • Feed meal – 402 railcars, 26,130 tonnes;
   • Quicklime – 370 railcars, 24,054 tonnes;
   • Peat briquettes – 357 railcars, 16,511 tonnes.
4. Specific goods:
   • Potash products (nitrate, chloride) – 221 railcars, 15,000 tonnes;
   • Molasses – 139 railcars, 7,643 tonnes;
   • Cellulose – 114 railcars, 7,410 tonnes.
5. Low-volume deliveries:
   • Export of unique goods (e.g., fiberglass, microspheres, transport spare parts) is limited to single shipments with a weight of up to 68 tonnes per railcar.

All railway export shipments from Belarus to Poland were carried out through three interstate junction points (IJPs):

• Brest (Belarusian Railway) — Terespol (PKP), Brest-Tsentralny station (exp.);
• Bruzgi (Belarusian Railway) — Kuznica (PKP), Bruzgi station (exp.);
• Svisloch (Belarusian Railway) — Siemianówka (PKP), Svisloch station (exp.).

In total, through Brest-Tsentralny station (exp.), 8,893 railcars and 1,288 large-capacity containers, totaling 547,845 tonnes, were dispatched for export to Poland during the 11 months of 2024. The structure of dispatched goods is as follows:
