Between September 1 and 17, 2025, an import of ammunition (Explosive Materials, EM) was carried out to Belarus from Russian arsenals of the GRAU of the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation to the artillery ammunition bases of the Ministry of Defence of Belarus.
The delivery of ammunition took place during the joint strategic exercises “Zapad-2025”, however, according to available information, it was not related to these exercises.
As of September 17, at least two troop trains (exact arrival dates could not yet be established) arrived in Belarus, transporting exclusively explosive materials (EM).
The first troop train departed from Butylitsy station (Gorky Railway) to Osipovichi I station (Mogilev Division of Belarusian Railway) and consisted of 11 railcars, including:
- 1 boxcar (for cargo attendants);
- 5 gondola cars for cover (empty cars, running on their own axles; used to cover cargo, as well as to cover or install a control frame when transporting oversized cargo);
- 5 boxcars with explosive materials.
Estimated cargo mass: approximately 275–300 t of EM (based on ~55–60 t per boxcar, buffer gondola cars and service car were not included).
The state border crossing between Russia and Belarus was carried out through the interstate junction point (MGP): Krasnoe (Russian Railways) → Osinovka (Belarusian Railway).
- The sender from Butylitsy station (Gorky Railway) was: 2161st Central Base (Rocket and Artillery Armament), military unit 96570.
- The recipient at Osipovichi I station (Mogilev Division of Belarusian Railway) was: 1405th Artillery Ammunition Base, military unit No. 42707.
The second troop train departed from Kuzhenkino station (Oktyabrskaya Railway) to Tsentrolit station (Gomel Division of Belarusian Railway) and consisted of 20 railcars, including:
- 1 boxcar (for cargo attendants);
- 14 boxcars with explosive materials;
- 5 gondola cars with explosive materials (as a rule, transport-packaging containers with missile armaments are transported in gondola cars).
Estimated cargo mass: approximately 1,000 – 1,070 t of EM (calculated based on an average actual load of ~50–60 t per railcar, service car was not included).
The state border crossing between Russia and Belarus was carried out through the MGP: Zaverezhye (Russian Railways) → Yezerishche (Belarusian Railway).
- The sender from Kuzhenkino station (Oktyabrskaya Railway) was: 93rd GRAU Arsenal of the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation, military unit 55443-TD.
- The recipient at Tsentrolit station (Gomel Division of Belarusian Railway) was: 1393rd Artillery Ammunition Depot, military unit No. 52208.
According to preliminary information, new shipments to these artillery bases of the Ministry of Defence of Belarus are possible in the near future. We continue monitoring.
